Malaysian immigration has raised the special pass for Myanmar workers returning to their motherland eightfold, 7Day News reported.
Overstayed Myanmar migrant workers with no valid passport have to pay 3000 Ringits for their special pass to board the flight to Myanmar. It is an eight-fold increase from 400 Ringits.
The fee for a Myanmar worker with a valid passport is only 2200 Ringits. A huge number of Myanmar migrant workers in Malaysia are packing their bags in the aftermath of recent violence targeted at them.
Some Myanmar tycoons and airlines are providing free return trips for Myanmar workers stranded in Malaysia.
Some 2500 workers have registered at Myanmar embassy for return trips to the country.
Despite many Myanmar aids groups from Myanmar arriving in Malaysia, some are said to be planning to return to their country through the illegal route.
